Lady Gardenia

I'm a country girl from Arkansas, raised by a dad.   My mother died when I was 7 years old but I never knew her. I was a  senior in High School, and was asked if I wanted a job in town?

I left the cotton fields to go to the city for a job in a resturant. Three months later, I met and married Jim Chambers. We were married 50 years.

We moved to Chicago area, and I went to Beauty School, built a salon, later another salon with more employees, then a Beauty Botique, and dress shop( Wheel of Fashion) . Then my own shopping center , ( The Family Center) . and then another salon.  I sold to a girl that worked for me for 15 years and I worked for her for a year. I retired to take care of a very sick husband.

We moved to Worthington January 1999, and had been here only six weeks when Jim passes. This move was so that my son could help me take care of his dad. I love to paint , all medians.  I love bright colors!  They are electrifying and give me energy.

I love having a secret sister, and doing some things with the Victorian Boutiques.

I have taught advanced Cosmetology,  served on the board of Cosmetology for the state of Illinois for two years and served on the Chamber of Commerce of two years. My 33 years in the business was very rewarding. I was happy to make my ladies more beautiful.

My best job, was being a mom to Sharon and Robert, and a grannie to a grandson, a finincial advisor and two grandaughters. One finishing college ( Otterbein) she will be in elementry education K to 4th grades. And the other finishing High school and making decisions for her college.

What a Lucky Lady I am. And I give lots of Hugs.
